Jamberry Nails REVIEW

I am super excited to be able to review the Marvel and Disney Nail wrap collections by Jamberry Nails, as well as their Application Kit and Mini Heater.

Just before I get started on my experience, here is a bit of background on Jamberry!
Jamberry Nails was formed in 2010 and has since taken the world by storm with their fun DIY nail wraps. They're made with durable materials which they claim last longer than your average enamel nail polish with up to two weeks of wear on fingernails and four weeks on toe nails. They offer a crazy amount of designs but of course the nerd in me wanted nothing more than to get my hands on some of the Marvel and Disney designs.

🎀 FIRST IMPRESSIONS 🎀

Mini Heater (left) & Application Kit (right)

The mini heater comes in a cute little box which is well presented and packaged. I also love the little bag that the application kit comes in.

The Mini Heater is a nice compact size which makes it easy to travel with - which is a plus for me.
You can purchase it here.

I was also pleased with the Application kit as I have super mangy nails from playing violin and they needed a clean up before applying my nail wraps.
This particular kit includes 2 nail prep wipes, 1 pair of nail clippers, 1 pair of nail scissors, 1 buffer block, 2 orange sticks, 1 rubber cuticle pusher and 1 nail file.
You can purchase this here.

I also got a card that showed me the basics of the Wrap application. Seemed easy enough!

ðŸŽ€ NAIL WRAP APPLICATION PROCESS 🎀

I started by using the Application kit to tidy up my nails. I had grown them fairly long so decided to trim them back a little which was a bad idea as I would trim them anyway AFTER applying the wraps. They ended up being shorter than I'd liked as a result.

The nail buffer was good as well as it created a matte surface on the nail so it would be easier for the wrap to stick to it. The nail prep wipes I received are basically just alcohol wipes that rid your nails of any oils that would prevent the wraps from sticking as well. I recommend using these wipes as you go as to avoid getting oil on your hands along the way.

The nail wrap sheet looks very much like a sheet of stickers. An average sheet like this will last you at least two nail manicures and one pedicure - just depending on the shape and size of your nails of course.

It's very important to use the orange stick to lift these stickers and heat them. Do not use your fingers as oils will mess with the sticky backing and it won't bind to your nail! I found applying them very easy - the only thing is you need to be very careful where you place it on your nail! Once it's on you can't move it or adjust it! I messed up with one nail and it was too close to the cuticle which resulted in a little lifting and a less clean look. Otherwise I just had to redo my thumbs as I put them too far away from the base of the nail.

Smoothing them on with the base of your opposite thumb is easy and you only have to heat it once more to complete the process! Of course there will be extra length on the wrap so trim this with the scissors provided.
Jamberry recommends using a nail file to smooth the edges of your nail but I had a very negative experience with this. The nail file just made the edge of my nails tatty and uneven and did not work at all. I say just trim your nail back with a nail clipper to give your nails and wraps a clean edge with no lifting.

Total prep and application time took about 40 minutes.

🎀 HOW TO REMOVE 🎀

Just hold you nail in front of the mini heater for about 5 seconds and then peel off! The alternative is to soak your nails in nail polish remover and then peel.

🎀 DESIGN 🎀

★★★★☆

I gave the design of the nail wraps 4 stars. I loved most of the designs but some of them wouldn't work on average nails like mine because they're not long and big enough to show all the intricate details. I decided to use the 'I Am Iron Man' design as it fit my nails well and had a really vibrant and fun look while still looking mainstream enough for work. I also love how the gold detail is metallic, adding that extra bling!

🎀 EASE OF APPLICATION 🎀

★★★★☆

I gave this 4 stars as it was super easy bar a few things. It's very important to prep your nails correctly otherwise it will not work. I also found it annoying how if you placed the wrap ever so slightly in the wrong spot it was either you deal with it or take it off and use a new wrap. I suppose it would get easier with more use but it is quite fiddly if you don't have a steady hand and a good eye.

🎀 WEAR 🎀

★★★☆☆

Of course I was super skeptical about the nail wraps as I am a musician and find normal nail polish doesn't work for me AT ALL when I play violin - it just chips straight off. However I practiced violin for about two hours and had no issues, so I was super happy. I am giving this 3 stars as I still have to see how it wears over the next week and I can already feel one nail wrap lifting slightly. It was also way too easy to remove when I wanted to redo my thumbnails which was slightly worrying.

🎀

So these are overall an easy way to give your nails a professionally done look with awesome, cute designs to suit everyone! It's totally worth the price too as you can get several applications out of one sheet. I totally recommend investing in the mini heater too instead of using a hair dryer as it has its own stand and gives a consistent heat without blowing your wraps around like the hair dryer did for me.

Thanks for reading and comment below with your experience and any questions you may have!
